Skipping my Shaman King Zuty issue for now and posting an idea I had a long time ago for a custom instance. I had it posted in the group for my private server, but I am moving it here now for everyone to see and comment on. I've been looking at Cata info lately and I was really hoping for new or updated lower level instances. While it is still not final, it doesn't seem like lowbies are getting much in the dungeon or new loot department.

Enjoi.

----------------

I was going to make this a blog post, but here seems more fitting.

It has always been my dream to make my own instances from scratch, and I really wish there was a way other then deleting the mobs from one instance and putting in the mobs I created. I stumbled upon this entry on WoW Wiki by mistake and it was like a light bulb went off in my head. This instance is meant for 29 twinks and it is a challenge; think of it as a pre-raid instance, but for a twink. So the mobs are elite, but scaled properly so that they aren't going to one shot you, but it isn't a walk in the park.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you the Techno Mage instance!

Instance Name: House of the Arcane Contraption
Location: Barrens
Advised Level: 29-35
Races: Human, Orc, Dwarf, Gnome, Goblin

Bosses (In order of apperance):

Angus Sootbeard - Level XX Dwarf Techno Mage.

Loot:
Sootbeard's Malice (2H mace, COH: Nature DMG to all surrounding foes)
Hood of the Techno Mage (1st of 5 piece cloth set)
Lightning in a Bottle (Trinket: Scaled down version of Ramstein's Lightning Bolts)
T-Bird Keys (Mount: X% speed flying mount. (Skinned like the Flying Machine that you can make through Engineering) Very rare mount.)

Bio: Angus Sootbeard is one of the young and upcoming aces. He is a rare Ironforge dwarf techno mage, with a definite addiction to extremes. Rising to fame with the creation of his one true love, the T-Bird, Angus works as a mercenary, taking odd jobs for the Alliance when he is not pursuing new technological or magical projects. Angus can be found in the courtyard working on his T-Bird.

---

Brymidaine Zecker - Level XX Dwarf Techno Mage (Spirit)

Loot:
Zecker's Wand (Nature DMG wand, COH: Poisons the target)
Zecker's Cloak (Tank cloak, lots of stam and armor)
Zecker's Cloak of Mirrors (Spell Power cloak, Use: Absorb X magic damage)
Robes of the Techno Mage (2nd of 5 cloth set)
Zecker's Firestaff (Very very rare drop. IDK what to even have this do)

Bio: Brymadaine Zecker was one of the most powerful mages of his generation, or so the stories go. When Zecker vanished mysteriously from his room in the Shady Rest Inn, it was discovered that Zecker was not a wizard at all. He was, in fact, a brilliant tinker who for his entire adventuring career had duped the world into believing his inventions were magical artifacts. Zecker's spirit haunts the Catacombs of the House of the Arcane Contraption; This is the final resting places for 'Those Who Discovered the Final Answer'.

Fanala Bridkind - Level XX Human Techno Mage

Loot:

Arcanist's Dirk (Possibly a level 29 version of Assassin's Blade)
Scourge Bone Necklace (Pure SP necklace)
Fireball Blaster (A gun with a COH to shoot a fireball for X dmg.)
Gloves of the Techno Mage (3rd of 5 cloth set)

Bio: Fanala fled Dalaran when the Scourge came, she stowed away on a goblin merchant ship and found herself in Ratchet. Feelings about arcanists being at a low, she apprenticed herself with a tinker and used subtle magic to aid her when her tinkering abilities proved insufficient. Soon she was melding the two skillfully and caught the attention of Grimm Onearm. Her fireball-firing pistol, while being nearly as dangerous to the attacker as her target, impressed him. Fanala resides in the Weapons Quarter of the House.

Mememgem - Level XX Orc Techno Mage

Loot:

Mememgem's Crash Protector (Stam/Int Shield, Effect: When struck in combat has an X% chance of increasing your movement speed by X% for X seconds.)
Welding Gloves (Agi/STR mail gloves, Equip: X% chance of dealing Y to Z Fire damage on a successful melee attack.)
Mememgem's Driving Goggles (Agi/Stam/Haste)
Shoulders of the Techno Mage (4th of 5 cloth set)
Box of Spare Parts (Non combat Mecha-Whelpling pet named Scraps. Very rare drop.)

Bio: Mememgem is a orc techno mage. This foul-tempered orc techno mage with a background in vehicles and warlock magic scares the rest of the techno mages. He claimed the large area as his own, and built a tunnel leading from the deep level to the ground level; on more than one occasion a failure has flown out of the hidden mouth of the tunnel. The burning hunk of metal usually reaches high in the air before crashing in an impressive display. He does not clean up his messes, and the other techno mages call that area "Mememgem's Graveyard." Some scavenge for supplies there, but no one wants Mememgem to discover their pilfering, as the Orc sometimes goes to the graveyard to mourn his children. Mememgem is found in Mememgem's Graveyard, mourning his failed experiments.

Grimm Onearm - Level XX Goblin Techno Mage

Loot:

Grimm's Arm (Fist weapon. Vilerend Slicer, but with stats and scaled down COH DMG)
Grimm's Cufflinks (Something like Emissary Cuffs, but Cloth)
Prototype Chestguard (Mail chest, Pally chest Int/Stam/SP)
Grimm's Schematics (Starts a quest for several different rewards, I have yet to think of them.)
Leggings of the Techno Mage (5th of 5 cloth set)

Bio: Grimm is a goblin who lost his right arm and leg in a rather impressive accident. He has prosthetic limbs that are made from metal, look exactly like flesh, and respond to his mind’s commands. Few other than other techno mages realize his limbs are not natural. Although he jokes he is only .3 of a member of the cabal, he still carries a lot of weight in the House of the Arcane Contraption. His merchant ship is called the Snarling Gribble Eel and is one of the fastest ships in the eastern sea. It runs on a complicated perpetual motion engine that is fueled by his will whenever he steps aboard. Grimm can be found in Grimm's Workshop.

Mogul Razdunk (Rare Spawn) - Level XX Goblin Techno Mage

Loot:

Razdunk's Flamethrower (Trinket, think Thunderbrew's Boot Flask but scaled down)
Razdunk's Rifle (A gun with a COH to cast Frostbolt X)
Mecha-Saw (2H Axe, STR and AP, think an upgraded version of Reef Axe but with STR in place of Stam )
Steampunk Legguards (Mail leggings, Stam and Use: Increases speed by X% for X seconds.)
Magically Infused Ring (Epic Ring, +X to all stats/MP5/HP5. Very very rare.)

Bio: Mogul Razdunk is the founder and ruler of the Venture Trading Company. More can be read here. Razdunk can be found in the secret chamber behind Grimm's Workshop, out near Grimm's merchant ship, the Snarling Gribble Eel.

    Reading blogs.
Frostbolt gun sounds OP, also, that many items should not have a proc. Look at the amount of items with procs now, incredibly low, and this instance would boost it almost one fold.

And what is wrong with CoH items?

Nothing is OP about a FB gun, it would be a low rank of FB, the slow would last 4 seconds, and it would not stack with Concussive Shot since one slow would overlap the other being that Concussive would slow an additional 10% more and for 1 more second. So if anything (and you would need to be lucky enough to not have CS on CD and for this to proc) you are slowed by 40% for 4 seconds and then at the last tick of that you are slowed by 50% for 5 seconds. The proc would not be so low you never see it, but not so high that it goes off ever other shot.

I still haven't given other stats on it, so the DPS could be lower then another gun. If anything this would just be a cheap trick gun for a class just using what is available to them.

i know this is very old but humor me, i was banned when you originally posted.
    1. CoH effects that do AoE damage OR apply a DoT are FAIL. like bank said, they arent around anymore b/c they suck. it ruins CC effects for a marginal amount of damage; deff not worth it.
    2. i hope there's more than a cloth set, eep! need more melee love.
    3. having an extremely low drop chance item off each boss just seems 'tarded to me. make the last boss of the instance drop 1 extremely rarely. if you dont want to narrow it down to one piece, then set up a loot table between all the rare shit and have the last boss drop one out of the possible amount extremely rarely.
    4. i loved all the little bios tho, that was a nice touch
    5. some decent gear ideas but a lot of them seem gimmicky (CoH hit X, Y, Z, etc...def dont think there's nuff gear to cover all classes either, this seems tweaked in the favor of casters for sure)
    6. make the bosses lvl 31 elites, trash lvl 29 elites (so its like a heroic dungeon - bosses +2, trash = lvl)
    7. yea like i said idk if anyone will even read this, much less zuty himself. but i felt compelled to post b/c i wanted to back in the day but was banned. def gave this a lot of thought and it shows, but it could potentially be amazing with some more thought. pze.

    O R L Y

They may not exist in this bracket and they may be scarce, but it's no reason to ignore it. I'd rather use something unique then the same rehashed items over and over again.

    2. i hope there's more than a cloth set, eep! need more melee love.
    Of course.

I don't really have the drop rate % in stone, I just don't want an epic to drop every time.

    Thank you.

More instances to be made. Like how WC has a leather DPS set, this instance has a Clothy set and caters to casters more while the other instances will focus on the other class roles.

    6. make the bosses lvl 31 elites, trash lvl 29 elites (so its like a heroic dungeon - bosses +2, trash = lvl)
Yeah, it would be something like that. I am going to try this on my 49 server and scale everything up appropriately.

Well thanks for commenting. I mostly posted it here in case I lost the original file (which did happen) and I like hearing feedback from people so I can get better at item/NPC creation.

Again, I don't want to rehash old ideas for weapons. We shouldn't just look towards the future, we need to revisit the past and while an AoE proc will break CC it's something different that was never revisted again after Vanilla WoW.

I'd at least like to try it out.

nothin wrong with experimenting. just saying blizz tried it once and obviously something made them reconsider. i guarantee if you offer a comparable weapon w/o the aoe proc it will be used instead (ex. thrash blade vs. bloodrazor).
and no offense but you contradict yourself by saying you dont want to rehash old ideas, yet you should revisit the past. sometimes things are just left alone b/c blizz actually knows what they're doing (for once). im sure they realized it was a gimmicky proc idea with more negatives than positives.
however you are free to do what you wish, and i am always looking forward to the 49 server regardless of things like this; there's always more than one way to gear a char.

I do that a lot, but what I was trying to say was I don't want to make the same weapon over and over again just with scaled stats, so I looked at older weapons that were never revisited. I do think they stopped doing it because of CC issues (like you said before) but that alone shouldn't thwart the concept completely.

I'd also like to look more into the "When hit in combat..." type abilities which will mostly be for Warriors/Pallys (in honor of Hobbs of course)

i like the leggings and shield idea as long as it doesnt make one or so classes OP in wsg (think shaman or pally with run speed increase, or if a warrior decideds its so good he ditches his sta/strength shield specifically for run speed, etc.)
