That post was what pretty much what got me started into twinking, so I thought it was about time to give it a few updates and a complete make over. These new posts include recommendations for what gear each class should have + talents and much more. Most of the gear is in order too, reading left to right (left being the more preferred gear and right being the lesser), you will probably find the best gear set up. Enjoy!

This guide has been broken into individual class gear guides due to strain on the server having 400+ items being imported, converted, colored, and displayed each time the page is viewed. It was killing the server.

With the new patch release there have been a lot of new questions about 19 twinks brought up and I thought I would bring them all into one nice little post.


Q: What does BOA stand for?
A: Bind on account - used to refer to the "new" bind on account gear which have their stats scale based on your toons level.

Q: Can you apply higher level enchants on BOA weapons/ranged?
A: In previous patch you could, but now all scopes have a level requirement so you're out of luck!

Q: Could I put a level 20 scope onto my soulbound bow/gun via having a level 20+ apply it in the "will not be traded" slot?
A: Nope, sorry. +3 damage scope now requires level 20 to gain stats.

Q: Are there ANY shoulder, helm, or leg enchants or were they all nerfed with the new patch?
A: There are currently zero (known) shoulder enchants available at 19. (Yes, I've even personally tested [Chromatic Mantle of the Dawn] to no avail.)

For leg enchants, you'll have to stick with armor kits. You can no longer apply armor kits/scope in the trade window so for the best leg kit you will have to apply it on your main and send it to your twink. There is currently a bug with Rugged Armor Kits and they don't have an item level requirement so they can be applied to level 19 pants.

Helm enchants, there are only two (that I know of) enchants available and they are [Shadow Guard] and [Ice Guard] which you had to have exploited prepatch. These two also worked on legs. Not sure about the ZG kit, but it also probably worked.

Q: What's up with the fishing gear? Do you still get stats from them?
A: If you had a Libram chant on your lucky fishing hat the enchant itself has a level 50 requirement but you can still use the hat and get stats.

Nat pagles extreme anglin' boots got slapped with a level 35 requirement on them and if you had them equipped you won't receive any stats from them (not even enchants or the +5 fishing). If you deequip the boots, you won't be able to put them back on.

With the release of the new patch, twinks can now get to 450 fishing and can now use [Arcanite Fishing Pole] all though the dps got nerfed to shit. Still, nothing better than making the level 80s pissed off when you run around with the best fishing pole in game!

Q: How come that huntard has monkey and hawk on at the same time?! WTF NERF HUNTARDS!
A: It's a one time bug, just kill them and they won't have it anymore. (putting it simply.)

Q: Do sharpening stones effect ranged damige?
A: Edit: Tested and in 3.1 no longer gives ranged dps. These did in fact, used to give you ranged DPS but no longer do.

Q: Does +9 damage weapon enchant effect your ranged DPS?
A: Sadly no, I just tried this today and it didn't give me any ranged dps. Sure made my battle axe look cool though! ^_^

Q: If I already have one AGM, will a second one give me another 825 exp?
A: Reports from players say that no, you will not in fact gain another 825 exp. Once you have done it once, you won't get the exp again.

Q: AGM nerfed yet?
A: No, actually the 12 dodge rating got changed to 12 stamina so it got buffed.

Q: Furbog pouch work yet?
A: Nope, can't use the heal but still gain the stamina

Q: How come I see people running around with 4 health/mana per 5 sec on their shield?
A: The 9 spirit shield enchants was changed to 4/4 per 5 second! Reeeeaally nice enchant now.

Q: Why doesn't my amo pouch give me haste rating anymore?
A: In 3.1 they removed the haste from ALL pouches and added +15% ranged haste built into the hunter. Buff for Alliance and Horde but more for the Horde since we couldn't get the nice pouch Alliance could.

Q: How did this twink get a giant sewer rat?!?!!
A: You can now train fishing and cooking up to 450! Not first aid sadly enough.

Q: Why does my 100 health chest enchant require level 30?
A: /shrug, blizzard wanted to change that enchant for some reason. Get 4 stats instead.

Old questions:

Q: How does this twink have the [Tabard of the Kirin Tor]?
A: All mages start out with friendly reputation with them so they can buy the tabard. There is currently no other classes (other than DK) that start out friendly with a Northrend faction.

Q: Can you obtain the [Bloodsail Admiral's Hat] at 19?
A: Nope, nor the title.

Q: Can alliance obtain the inferno robe?
A: Yes, but only through faction change.

Q: Can you put Northrend enchants on [Formal Dangui]?
A: Yes, but only +250 mana and +22 defense rating because they're bugged.

A few questions with regard to priests. The hit rating ring and staff: worth it? I'm thinking I'd need HR for psychic scream and maybe a few shadow spells, but how often do you cast those?

The crit on the robe: How good is that in this bracket, specifically with priests in mind?

Do I want a stamina set, a balance set, and a spellpower set, like I would for a mage, or is it less flexible? I have heard stories of getting train /assisted.

I'm thinking at this point the fishing hat, furbolg pouch, and agm trinket are out of my grasp. BoA stuff too. How badly affected will I be without them?

Lastly, how effective are healers at all in this bracket with hunters running wild the way they are?

Yes, you'll always want as many sets as you can.

You made a nice list with information here but I only looked over it quickly. There are just two things that I missed while quickly checking. And that's Wingblade as a offhand for horde rogue's (also useable as main hand but a lot worse). And Battleworn Thrash Blade as a offhand for rogues.

The reason I spotted those is because I currently use the wingbalde and am deciding if I should get the Battleworn Thrash Blade form my stone keeper shards.
Or just not look at the Thrash Blade and take the Inherited Insignia of the Horde.
