Ah, the good old days. Man weren’t they fun. I miss parts of the game bad…
There are lots of things I miss about playing World of Warcraft, specifically twinking, but there are many things I don’t miss too:
- I don’t miss the changes that Blizz forced on us
- I don’t miss the pricks that made their way into the twinking game in from Wrath to 3.1
- I don’t miss the game really anymore
I miss the game from 2.3 to Wrath. Even though I embraced, utilized, and retrofitted my twinks through all the changes that faced us, looking back, I didn’t like them. I think the turning point that turned the twinking game ugly was the period of time that introduced tradeskills, the Enti Era, and upgraded hunters. Like I said, I retrofitted with the changes myself, but really, a level 19 warlock with 1700hp and 230 Shadow damage was stupid. It changed the way the lock game was played for sure. I forgot how to CC like I used to back in the days when alliance priests looked at me as enemy #1. (this was back in Vengeance, a time most of you didn’t know me during)
- I miss MTU. Groba, Laycee, Fael, Bratty, Mypain, Jamie… man, I do miss you guys and gals.
- I miss solo pugging and popping into an 0-2 game and making enough difference to turn it around into a 3-2 win.
- I miss evenly matched pug and premades that lasted 1-2 hours. The closer the match, the funner they were after they were over.
- I miss building twinks. I miss the fishing. (I know, that seems like saying that I miss shaving my eyeballs)
- I miss the game the way it was when I 1st started twinking. It was so pure and overall more respectful or so it seemed.
Even though I miss lots about the twinking game, they are not enough to bring me back though. I really miss contributing my findings, opinions, rants, and all that shit here on this blog. If there was a way to share more here without playing guys, believe me, I’d do it. Unfortunately, there is very little I can do. Sorry. We are watching a few guys to see if they fit the mold to be a blogger. Hopefully soon you’ll get some great contributions. Just don’t run them off like you guys did our last 2 tries.

Ps. If anyone is keeping track, it’s been 2.5 months. You can always track that by heading over to Draynerworld and looking at the date I said, “Fuck Blizzard”. I decided to clean up my account and I deleted all those 20s, so the sidebar links won’t work. I am too lazy, or maybe the word is busy, to clean those links up. I wish I’d taken armory screenshots before I leveled them all for historical reference. Anyhow, if I can make it 4 months, it’s game over for Wow for sure. Wish me luck.

well i miss those things too
people don t understand why i post on a twink forum if i don t play with my twink, but that s because there are people here that knows what is the best ring for a level 29 twink or what drop rate has a blue shoulders in what instance
I guess those days will never come back
but i didn;t deleted my char
i hope that one day all the mistakes they did after releasing that stupid lich king will be removed and twinks will be free again
also i am saving money to buy a wow realm and make those changes
So, what is behind MTU? The only thing I know is MTU stands for maximum transmission unit, it relates to networking on ethernet layer

2.5 months without WoW that’s pretty good. 23 days make a habit so I think you have succesfully made it a habit to not play. Thanks for posting.
I can remember the day that changed twinking for me, It was the day I found out that 225 mining gave a 70stam boost rather than a 70HP boost. This was before I found this site. I rapidly leveled up to 225 as many others did. I think most people know the stories and changes after that, but for me that was the “exploit” that started a chain reactin of exploits throughout the twinking community.
if twinking would have been the same as back then this entire time then I’d have quit a long long time ago.

Thats what i miss the most. when all the eploits and proffesion came i got tired and lvled my rogue to 20, just to regret it now but im to lazy and poor to go back now. IRL has some nice stuff to offer to
Hey Drayner, I always love your blogs. They really make me think. Now I remember before wrath and all that back in 2.4.3 or something. I was such a bad twink on a 19 priest, but it was just so fun. As I don’t like a lot of the changes I have accepted them and made the best of them. I still love twinking and the twinking community.

remember when twinks could be successful at a crossroads raid? i miss that.
I realized the other day, while leveling a warrior to a potential twink project that 10-19 with exp is still crowded by semi to fully twinked players.
For instance,characters with BoA’s in 10-19’s are still completely pwning noobs. In the end, I wonder if the non-exp only bgs really helped the noobs not getting pwned. Of course I enjoy playing only vs twinks on Ruin but I think blizz failed at trying to help the new players.

, for those of you who aren’t familiar with vengeance and Drayner’s history MTU is . I miss beating their 10mans w/ PuG groups (not their A team 10m). I RLY miss chasing you down on your druid with nitpickk and makavelli too… god wtf happened to twinking. The last time I saw you I was on my pally and it was very obvious you were a tad rusty lol.

The +70 stamina era was, quite frankly, the darkest time in twinking that I can recall. Enti’s sword, twinks getting 450 professions, etc. etc., all demonstrated how little thought Blizzard put into development changes. And how slow they are to correct bugs.
Watching these players sprint to capitalize on bugs and crutch on any possible advantage was a real eye opener to the type of person that most twinks are. To be honest, I don’t miss that type of rubbish at all.
The 450 era, Enti’s, mining bug. were the beginning of the end of twinking.
Blizzard finally realized they had to take every single thing into account when developing endgame or someone with a level x9 would exploit it to no end. Giving people 2/3 person mounts made 450 achievements very easy.
We found every single bug as a community and rode that horse until it died. I really do think our ability to make Blizz developers look bad almost every single patch resulted in our separation from the rest of the WoW universe. Had nothing to do with fair/not fair; it was our ability to exploit.
If twinking was banished because of competition or fairness issues there’s no way BOA accounts would be cruising around the way they are. They are as if not more unfair from a competitive standpoint than the blue/purple twinks ever were.
If they ever take us back into the fold twinks can once again be an equalizer in BG’s. I’ll take a blue/purple twink that’s played for years over a BOA twink on a leveling nub any day of the week.
