- Change my Orc Twinks to Blood Elves.
- Change on of my Tauren Druids to Alliance so my alliance lock can get some of them purdy BoA thingies…

We wanted to give everyone a very early heads-up that, in response to player requests, we’re developing a new service for World of Warcraft that will allow players to change their faction from Alliance to Horde or Horde to Alliance. There’s still much work to do and many details to iron out, but the basic idea is that players will be able to use the service to transform an existing character into a roughly equivalent character of the opposing faction on the same realm. Players who ended up creating and leveling up characters on the opposite factions from their friends have been asking for this type of functionality for some time, and we’re pleased to be getting closer to being able to deliver it.
As with all of the features and services we offer, we intend to incorporate the faction-change service in a way that won’t disrupt the gameplay experience on the realms, and there will be some rules involved with when and how the service can be used. The number of variables involved increases the complexity of implementing this service, but we plan to take the time needed to ensure that it lives up to expectations before officially rolling it out. We’ll go into much more detail on all of this here at http://www.WorldofWarcraft.com as development progresses. In the meantime, we wanted to let you know that because this type of functionality requires extensive internal testing well in advance of release, you may be seeing bits and pieces of the service in the test builds we use for the public test realms moving forward.

I’m gonna resurrect it and move it to Twink Info.
I don’t like this very much, now you need to pay a fee if you want to perfect your twink (A horde hunter needing the Crescent Axe for 29 for example).
It’s possible that they could add another field to each item’s database entry that would indicate faction. This way quest rewards could stay Horde or Alliance only. Otherwise, quite a few hardcore twinks will be going for Seal of Wrynn and Inferno Robe and who knows what else.
I’m looking forward to this feature, I switched to Horde a long time ago and would like to rescue my 60+ NE druid from obscurity.
I’m hoping for $10 but we all know it’s going to be $25.
yeah, it would be cool it you could get other faction rewards. But i am pretty sure that you wouldnt be able to do that.

It will be interesting to see how they handle the quest items…like has been said, tunic of westfall/seal of wyrm…

you know, all these changes are interesting. No xp gains and such. But, me personally. I enjoyed the limitations set by the xp gains and the faction. Perfecting a twink – well, for me – the fun was in the process. I took the time and effort to plan my way to Runic blade and arctic buckler and exalted cape reward. Or title of diplomat or explorer. The fun of twinking was to see what could be accomplished within the set parameters. Now, its no big deal. Yay, now every one can run around with every epic piece available. Where is the pride in that? It diminishes the efforts put forth by those who have gone before. Ive actually already chosen to not renew my three accounts. Maybe Ill change the way i feel later on but for now, Im pretty bummed.
Since they are most likely going to remove all quest specific items the only use would be to transport BoA’s – well and possibly outfit alliance with gear from mobs they cant normally kill ( Worn running boots, Nordic long shank, … )
Hopefully you can change faction at the same time as transfering to another account ( for those of us with two accounts on pvp realms )

I would transfer my 39 twinks to horde: there is a very good guild there !
And i would pay 20euros per change !

My guess is that you’ll get a character similar to the premade ones on the PTR, but with some gear that your current character has. It’ll be interesting to see how much they keep from your character and how much gets deleted.
If you are really thinking of doing this you may want to waste $25 on an experiment. Level an alliance character to 16 do the seal of wrynn and tunic of westfall quest then transfer over.
As mentioned before this would probably be useful in transfering BoA’s, If you have a main in one faction grinding your BoA’s and you want to make a twink of the opposite faction this could work to your advantage.
I think it will take a LONG time before this will be implented. What about if you are on a pvp server like me? Do you need to transfer all your chars to horde? What about alliance (or vice versa) only…

Titles…
So what happens to your rep? Is SW rep converted to Orgrimmar rep etc. or will you start at 0? And how about achievements? Will your [For the Alliance] achievement be turned into [For the Horde]? And will your quests completed achievement reset as you gain access to double the amount of quests? Lots of questions here.
Indeed. We shouldnt start sreaming about converting our old gay human male twinks to Hordies yet. this will take a long time. Name change? naah that took blizzard 3 or 4 years to implent. Before even this, blizzard have to fix race changes atleast..
So… If I have a 29 twink with BC enchantable quest items and turn off XP then change faction, theoretically I can get all BC enchantable items available?
They still haven’t said you’ll be able to swap races within the same faction. Of course we can assume that’d be possible, but then again.. this is Blizz we’re talking about.
My fear is that you’d have to transfer factions, and then back to get the race you want. Most likely after the waiting period. I hope that’s not the case, they just haven’t said anything about same faction race changes that I’ve read.
Up next Blizzard starts selling pre-made characters complete with T9 and S8 gear.

even if blizz sets allows you to keep the faction only items, they’ll probly outdate em w/ even more BoA gear. and i dont think id transfer my rogue over to horde i like competition the way it is.
