I’ve been thinking about this a bit with a couple items that have popped up here recently. There is a thread going on in the forums that asks “What is the facination with Arena?”. Then we have the news of a rated arena for twinks addon from Epeenratings.com. My quick answer to what the fascination is was “Epeen” basically, but to some it’s more than that I am sure.
I personally never got into dueling or arenas though. When I was a new twink a few years back, I did some 2v2 arenas with a couple guildies in MTU, Fael and Lucid. These were pretty fun, but I didn’t know much about arena strats, lOS’ing, pole humping, etc. We didn’t do many and these guys kind of started playing their mains anyhow. I enjoy WSG pugging and premading more than personal accomplishments. I hear this one all the time, “You don’t arena because you suck…”. Well, maybe in the Arena, I do. This doesn’t necessarily mean “I” suck, it means that I am not experienced at arenas and duels. When I moved my 19 ally lock to Bronzebeard, I pugged some arenas on occassion, but not enough to really get used to all the situations and such. In the WSG, shamans don’t pop tremor totems often, there are no real poles to play ring around the rosy with, and it’s much different. Given time, I am sure that I could get good at arenas seeing that I am a smart player with great gear. The thing is, why? I don’t have any desire. There is nothing tracking my wins and losses, I don’t get any honor, nothing more than being able to say “I beat x or y player”… To me, that seems like a waste of time.
But… With this new mod out there, it gives something to track your wins and losses. Something to hang your hat on. Now might be the time to gear up for arena play. What about you?

I do Arenas for fun. Simple as that. 2v2’s mainly, being able to cooperate with 1 other person instead of being all over the place with 9 others.
Before I started playing my twink properly I always played 2k+ arena on my main at level 70. BGs are always just such a drag in comparison, after played proper arenas that is. I would take arena over BGs anyday^^
I know alot of players will be using Epeen once it gets out of beta testing.
I did arena’s on my 70’s (before WotLK) for the alure of loot, but I can’t seem to find the modivation on twink arenas- I’m glad the topic has taken off.
That, or I don’t suffer frome Epeen envy!
The reasons why I arena:
1) it’s a lot easier to get a 2s, 3s, 5s premade going than 10, 15
2) they require a more intense, honed strategy as you can’t res and rejoin
3) it resets all my cooldowns just by entering the Arena ^_^
4) sure, epeen enters into it…
5) sure, you don’t get anything… but can’t you say the same for AB/WSG after you’ve got all the honor gear and 100 marks for each?
It’s a different way to enjoy the game.
Some people dig it, some don’t, some will never try.

Im the same way sort of. The only reason I do arenas is to kill time between BGs.
I think Im a good player but in arenas at times against people likely on vent there are a few WTF moments where its like I am a beginner. 1v1 duels are fine and dandy but 2v2 is a new beast. having to work directly with someone and the layouts of the arenas themselves are still pretty foreign.
I think if I had someone who liked playing twinks on a regular basis to group with itd be fun but just having to pug through arenas vs actual teams does not put the desire in to learn it or take it seriously.
another unfortunate aspect of arenas at low levels is the 1v2. at least half of arenas pop without a 2v2 (3v3 and 5v5 are rare and never have full teams).
I love Arenas and its a place where I really find myself at home. Also I feels its something fun and theres alot of tacts and stuff into it, thats not in the same way as bg.
I love 70 arena cuase they okey balance but in the end some turtel and/or melee teams became to strong in s4.
When 80 came out brust destroyed the tactical arena play and skills, like polymorth isent even that viable anymore cuase 1.5sec dmg is better time spent. And that really ennoys me also the 80 gear atm is “the same” as kara gear was to bc soo I dont see that it gonna change in 80.
Soo I actually think 39 is the most “balanced and active” arena bracket in the game. (its my opinion and yes I konw healers is slightly underpowered in 39 arena)
Until the achievement system, there was no real way of tracking your wins and losses in bgs either. I don’t quite see how “you don’t get anything out of it” could be a viable argument for TWINKs to not do arena. I can understand not enjoying it, but twinks don’t technically get anything out of bging either, unless they attach their epeen to their honor or some such.
You have a higher chance of having a tough and even fight in arena in some brackets and bgs. However, I can see how it might not be popular at certain brackets where the balancing is different from 39 where most of my experiences are.
arenas arent about epeen….they are just the ultimate pvp…..its all strategy and skill…all twinks have basically the same gear and theres no consumables….skill vs skill….teamwork vs teamwork….ect
also….pugging wsg on my priest is like castrating myself….i just get assfucked by hunters until i log out…rolling with a 10 man is not much better….its just 7 minute wins….the only fun wsg imo is premades and u get 1-2 a week tops…they are so logistically hard to get going that i just prefer arenas….u queue 2s with a good partner and ull get some competition

I am absolutely addicted to arena’s, i find 3’s the most interesting, but probably because of the lack of 5’s many guilds do. I like the communication and strategy they involve. It’s more of a mind game than a gear game in the arena.
i don’t do arena much. pug 39 WSG usually satisfies me.

I think arenas and duels can be a great way to learn about how to play against a specific class. You learn faster than BGs because there is less chaos, fewer degrees of freedom to distract you from what abilities that class is using and how they beat you.
(EU-Blackout 29) I did 2v2 arenas all my time, I had a partner, 1 and only. During 2-3 years we were making arenas together, transfering together, fighting vs other teams, were arranging awesome 3v3 and 5v5 matches and it was exciting. Find Your Partner and don’t lose each other.

um whoever says your a newb cause you dont arena dosnt mean that because if you like wsg k cool if you like arena k cool but you dont have to do what others are doing its a personal choice..
I’ve done some arena with a friend of mine at the 19’s and its all fun till you get a sham who just purge spam and shock

Main reason i twink is fun and most of the time arena isn’t fun to me at 19 or 80 for that matter =/
