It seems that once a week there is a new thread in the battlegroup forums talking about how the battlegrounds will start giving XP with the WotLK expansion. I’ve seen 10 threads this week on the subject. Let’s take a look at a couple things…
- This rumor swirls to some degree with every patch. It hasn’t happened yet.
- Do you think Blizz hates twinks? Do you think that they don’t realize that low level PVP is what keeps 1000’s of players subscribing to WOW?
I personally would have left WOW for good over a year ago if twinking wasn’t possible. I know dozens of friends that feel the same too, so you have to think that it’s much bigger than that. Why would Blizz push people out. The only ones really complaining about twinks are those that don’t have 70s to support the outrageous price of BOE gear and the REAL CASUAL PLAYER that feels like twinks are ruining their even play field at the lower levels.
I am not claiming to know for sure, but I have to say… HELL NO, it won’t happen.

Never going to happen.
Blizzard would be changing the dynamic of the game that’s lasted for 3+ years now with BG exp. There’s some that would never do PVE content. There’s people that would cancel accounts.
You name the problem; it would cause loss of dollars and blow long established game dynamics out of the water.
They’ve stated they will do nothing to help or hinder twinks. Frankly twinking is in the spirit of the game. Run your instances often and early, level your professions, participate in many areas of the game besides just grinding.
You look at the gear on a 39, 49, 59 and you see high level professions, enchants, hard to do quests (At level.), reason for running old content etc. If you twink you have to do everything you could possibly do by x9 that there is to do. Not just grind, grind, grind.
They will not add experience points to battlegrounds. Do not fear; Bluepost:
Battlegrounds wins/losses and honorable kills will not award experience after the next patch, nor upon the release of Wrath of the Lich King. It could always happen somewhere down the road as we work to improve PvP progression, but there are no plans for changing this in the immediate future.
They would lose a lot of players like me, who came from a multiplayer FPS background, take their class based PvP very seriously, don’t have the interest in RPGs to level a handful of L70s to have a choice of well geared classes to play, and would probably never have started playing WoW without there being twinks.
My name links to a post I made suggesting an option that could make more BG players happy.
actually you would be surprized that players who have lvl-70+ players complain about twinks. they take their players into BGs ill geared and when they get owned….whine about twinks. when i ask why are you in here? they are in there for gear…or to start building points. then if you ask or question them more….they say gear shouldn’t be important till you hit 80? that is the mentality of the supposed hi-end players and whiners.
these are the same players who say twinks are players who can’t play on equal grounds with enchants, etc. but on the other hand fail to see what occurs at hi-end. before a 70 in full S4/guardian or T5/6 in a BG was a twink. not every player at that level had the same gear/gems/enchants. instead of using twinked….they use the term geared. they have a one sided view. just like now with WOTLK….just because you pop 80 don’t mean your even close to other 80’s.
in 59+ PVP used to be real bad. they either go in AFK, or whine about the players who are built/geared.enchnated for the bracket.
but it is amazing how some are with their insta-twink DKs in 59 bracket, or their now OP ret-palidans (even with ill gear). but then i see the whining from all the other classes.

sorry on the double post…had a glitch
I enjoy battlegrounds. Mostly. I enjoy the dynamic of playing against live opponents, the extra dimension it brings to the game, the complexity that is lacking in easily-manipulated PvE encounters. Mostly.
What ruins it for me from time to time are twinks. And it’s not just losing or “getting pwnd”. I can deal with that. It’s the losing in a fight that is so totally lopsided that I never stood a chance. It’s working hard, PuGing instances for the best gear I can win rolls on, farming herbs and ores and playing the auction house to get gold for the best enchants I can afford, paying 20, 30, 40 gold for each . . . and still, before I stepped foot on the battleground, someone else, or multiple someone elses were setting foot on the other side with the ability to one-shot me.
Because they don’t PuG instances from level 14-18. They have a high level buddy that runs them through as often as needed starting at level 8 until they find the gear they want. That buddy plays bodyguard at the fishing contest until they get the hat and boots they want, and that buddy equips their gear with armor kits you can’t get and/or equip at level 19. And they don’t pay 40 gold per enchant. They pay 400 gold that they were given by an alt or twinking guild friend or wherever. Or they get, for free, an enchant that I would have to pay 400 gold for.
I’m not talking about hitting the level cap and getting stuck in battlegrounds with people who have been at the cap longer and are, therefore, better geared. I’m talking about playing Warsong Gulch at level 19 and being totally outclassed based solely on the fact that my opponent has been playing since 2007 or earlier or started playing on the invitation from friends who have been. While I and my buddies all just started playing this past year.
Every time the game is ruined for me, the only reason it is ever ruined for me, is because of twinks.
Now, having said that, I realize I have similar opportunity to twink a character as anyone else. I could work hard it, level up to 80, farm gold, instances, develop the network of twinking buddies to get me the enchants and armor kits . . . whatever it is I need to do, I could do it.
At least, given time, I could do it. As a new player, I haven’t had that time. I don’t have that network. Which means that as a new player, battlegrounds sometimes suck. Hard. Sometimes they are a totally frustrating, hate filled 15 minutes, 1/2 hour, however long the twinks want to farm honor. Non-twinks, those of us who have not had the opportunity to twink because we are still too new to the game, are totally at their mercy.
And I hate that. If I were here from a FPS background, picking up the game for its PvP content, I would have walked. I would have run. I certainly wouldn’t still be playing. There is just too wide a gap between normal and well geared players and it takes too much time, effort and social support to get geared to a competetive degree. Too much for PvP to be the only thing that keeps me in the game.
Fortunately, there is a lot more to the game than PvP. Enough to keep me engaged into higher levels. Someday, I will reach a point that I can twink a character. And when I do, I will . . . but keeping in mind how frustrating twinks have been for me, the only thing I will do with my twinked character will be hit Warsong Gulch and kill other twinks. ‘Cause I hate them. I really, really hate them.
You sir, are full of *#&%, and you fail at the game.
I have a friend who has been playing forabout 9 months, who rolled a 19 twink on a new server to check out the BGs on another battlegroup. He did not have any high level friends on that server who could boost him for free, and it is his highest levelled player there, so he had to make money himself on a low level.
He made all his money to pay for the best enchants and BoE gear, by playing the AHs, and looting everything that dropped in the instance boosts that he payed for (usually making more than the boost cost him).
The only help he had from a friend was having them roll a char on that server on the other faction and get them to booty bay, to send stuff through the neutral AH.
He had a FULLY geared twink in under 2 weeks from rolling it (less fishing gear, which isn’t needed to compete), 500G left over, and was invited into the server’s top twink guild.
I’ve been playing for about the same time as him, and I just decided to multibox so I could boost my own, so I’ve managed to make 3x twinks in the same time. You only need a Level 60 to boost someone to full twink and do their enchants, not an 80, and you can get there on RaF in a matter of DAYS.
Also I’ve seen plenty of fully geared twinks getting beaten by L18-19s in greens, and even know of someone who made a L10 twink for WSG, who can beat a fair few 19s, so it’s as much about skill as gear.
A huge part of the reason twinks beat so many people, is because after putting in the effort to make a twink THEY ACTUALLY PLAY THEM, and develop considerable skill, compared to someone who has only ever played PvE content or the odd duel, and has no idea about the mechanics of the BG, or how the classes are best used to complement/counter the abilities of other classes in a BG.
well what i have to say that all u people out ther that say that twinks ruin the game for u u all fools.in 1st all people that have twinks have work hard to get gear and money for it and if i pay 15$/month i think i can make watever i want.if i have the money to put a lvl 19 full gear why not?
